I am an artist deeply connected to the process of transformation. My work is about more than just painting—it's about breathing new life into vintage furniture and revealing the stories that lie beneath its surface. Each piece I work on becomes a canvas for my skills and vision, where I blend techniques with imagination to create something truly unique. I pour my heart and soul into every brushstroke, each piece taking weeks or months to complete.

I choose my pieces for their character, their shape, and the way time has marked them. Their imperfections are not flaws, but opportunities—inviting me to listen and respond through color, texture, and form. I hand-paint every piece, relying on my own artistic skills rather than decals or transfers. Every brushstroke is intentional—a reflection of my own creative journey and vision.

What sets my work apart is the attention to the smallest details: the subtle accents inside drawers, around the back, or behind a door, that transform each piece into a one-of-a-kind treasure. These details invite discovery and exploration, allowing the viewer to connect with the piece in a deeply personal way. Through this process, I not only create functional art but also preserve the soul of the original piece whilst shaping its future.

Down the Rabbit Hole

I love being creative and making work that's unusual, imaginative, and playful. Exploring the boundries of creativity is somthing I truely enjoy, it allows me to express a sense of wonder and curiosity in my art.

I am especially inspired by the original illistrations of Sir John Tenneil and the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland. This influence often appears in my creations, as I enjoy reimagining elements of the story in new and unexpected ways.

Cushions

I hand-paint fabrics to create one-of-a-kind, handcrafted cushions—each as unique as the spaces they adorn. Using rich cottons, velvets, and playful piping, I blend artistry with comfort, transforming each cushion into a vibrant piece of functional art. Every stitch and brushstroke reflects my passion for texture, colour, and craftsmanship, making each a truly personal addition to any space.

The inspiration for my work is deeply rooted in my home on the North Yorkshire coast, surrounded by beautiful beaches, moorland, historic ruins, and diverse wildlife. Textile art is a demanding craft—one that doesn’t easily forgive mistakes—but that’s what makes it so beautiful. It requires care, patience, and trust in the process. Each cushion I create is more than just a decorative piece; it’s a soft canvas that reflects landscape, imagination, and the quiet strength of nature.

Art

Painting is both a luxury and a passion. Unlike working with furniture or fabric, painting gives me the freedom to make mistakes—exploring my creativity and enjoying the process without the pressure to get everything perfect.

I enjoy painting different subjects and experimenting with a variety of styles (repetition bores me!). Primarily, I use acrylics and watercolours to capture the beauty of North Yorkshire—its landscapes, coastlines, and quiet corners. Each piece reflects a moment of stillness and movement in an ever-changing environment.

My goal is to bring the unique atmosphere of this region to life, whether on canvas or paper.

I'm a retired social care professional, blessed with the opportunity to share my creativity throughout my career.

Growing up in a family of dyslexic creatives, I've always approached the world differently. My art feels instinctive and authentic—a place where I truly belong. Without any formal training or qualifications, I’m entirely self-taught, driven by passion and hands-on experience.

I specialize in hand-painting vintage furniture and creating custom textile projects, often incorporating clients’ own fabrics into my commissions. My work is deeply personal—crafted from the heart, with attention to detail and care—reflecting the unique story of every piece.

For me, creativity is not just a skill or something I do—it's my identity. It's who I am!
